I’m not really a beauty product person, though to be honest I probably should be. 30 is staring me down with its crows feet and sagging, and while I swanned through my 20s without a care in the world, the 30s look like they might just have something to say about that.
On the 6th of this month, I went to Meg Lyall’s Become Beauty Glitz and Glam cocktail party. Being very pregnant I wasn’t particularly glitzy, nor glam, and I couldn’t have any of the cocktails. There was however a lolly buffet that I really shouldn’t have sat right next to. Oi… I think it’s going to take a while to get my body back, and it isn’t all the baby’s fault.
In any event, one of the big draw cards for the night was a goody bag for each ticket holder worth the princely sum of $80! Ticket’s being $30, this struck me as a pretty good deal. There were other goodies in the bag of course but I decided that lip gloss was too personal (you either like it or you don’t) and the masks etc would make me look like a long dead egyptian for the inevitable photo’s, so i went with the hand cream. I don’t know what I was expecting, I don’t have particularly ‘old’ hands, they’re pretty soft, no rough spots etc. The massive difference has been around my nails!
You know those nasty little tag’s you get sometimes and if you tug one back from the nail bed it stings like the billy-o and you’re left wondering why the hell you did that? You knew it was going to hurt! Well for me, with pregnancy came these things… also a nasty habit my nails had of splitting at the sides and shearing themselves off in a ragged and unattractive way. That’s all of the past. My nails are firm, nail beds are smooth, the splitting has stopped and there is no more pain! Just over two weeks of use, and the difference is really noticeable.
What kinds of other changes you might get in hands a little harder used than mine (I’m a dainty little petal, me), I can’t vouch for, but if you’ve had nail problems then this stuff was great. It does smell rather strongly of oranges, if you don’t like oranges, obviously that’ll be a problem, but there’s no weird chemical smell at all.
I should also point out that the instructions say ‘use daily’. I’m worthless at following instructions, so while I’ve been using the product for a little over two weeks now, and I probably average one use a day, I really put it on whenever I look at the bottle (it lives on my computer desk). So some days, I’m using it twice, maybe even three times if I’ve been sitting here typing for hours, and on those rare days I don’t come near the desk… eh, it probably gets forgotten. Again, I have no idea how much (if any) difference this made to my experience, but I’m certainly happy with the outcome!
