First of all, I’d like to point out that while I’m involved with the production of this invaluable tome, it’s not actually associated with 10 % as such, everyone just really likes the word ‘Inspired’ *G*. There are 200 spots available for the launch which will be held at Fullers Bookshop in Hobart – all the details can be found here, where you can also book your spot. If you make an appearance you’ll not only get a chance to see me (yeah, yeah, big whoop, bring on the GOOD stuff) but to hear from best-selling author Sally Wise, and the Governor’s wife, Mrs Underwood who has graciously agreed to come and say a few words.
Inspired Cooking has been a labor of love for those of us involved, and even now that we’re on the downhill run to the launch with momentum propelling us on, it’s still taking a great deal of effort (possibly more than any of us bargained for), but we all agree, she’s worth it. The majority of contributors and behind the scenes muscle came from the Hobart Mums network, to whom most of the profits will go for the purposes of supporting local mum’s! 35% of the profits though have been earmarked for the Small Steps program, which is being organised by the Hobart City Mission.
It’s been a long time coming, I can’t praise the women involved enough, not only for the work itself, but for showing a great deal of community spirit and understanding when dealing with each other. We’ve all got lives, families and demands on our time. During the last year I’ve had a baby, the state has been on fire, Christmas, birthdays, moves and drama’s, we’ve all been besieged.
The book has its own blog ‘Inspired Cooking‘, written by the tireless Leonie, who as it turns out knows a frightening amount about food, and happens to be an amazing writer. I dare you to tell me you’re not hungry after you read that blog! If you’re feeling more sociable this morning, there is also a facebook presence that’ll be handing out hints, praising contributors and of course, like the website, offering the book for pre-sale. A lot of hard work and love has gone into these things, and all our husbands are rolling their eyes, selling out in the first few days would be a great way to show them what’s what… no pressure though.
