Or, ‘why the universe goes out of its way to make things difficult’.
I have babies that run on a schedule. In many ways this is great, many parents would kill for babies that seem able to tell the time. My youngest, 3 months old, sleeps in the morning, almost constantly, which means the morning is a great time for me to get things done. Oh wait, there’s that other daughter, the 4-year-old.
No worries, I’ve got a Mother-in-Law who loves taking the kids! Ah… she’s only available in the afternoons… when baby number 2 is fussy as all get out and feeds almost constantly. No good for getting things done.
Schedules are all well and good, but only when they sync up!

I’m fairly certain my kids have drawn up a schedule and hidden it somewhere I won’t find it – so that they can ensure at least 1, 2 or all 3 of them are trashing, whining, fighting, hungry, demanding something, anything – during all waking hours.
Amen!
